Basically can't have a hole in the frame. So a patch, but nobody wants to do it. No auto body type place will deal with frame patches because of liability. So I'm looking at any other type of place with a welder that might be willing to do it. My mechanic said they should drop the gas tank...

My mechanic was saying the fully boxed frames like this rust from the inside out, so treating the outside is just part of the problem and not even the worst part. Is that wrong?

This is where I'm at too, although it sounds like yours is worse off. Sure, it can be patched, and ultimately replaced. But at what total cost of ownership? I'll get some pics tomorrow and post them.

No, I don't smell gas when filling up or driving. I think whatever my leak is that it's minor. Just enough to throw a code.

Rust is somewhere between OMG and WTF. Hehe. The frame is ok, but the cross beams, or sub frames, are getting bad and the smaller bits are toast. I've been going over it for winter, sanding and wire wheel on the worst of it. Then hit it with some rust converter followed by Rust-Oleum paint...

Already did the new gas cap. It's all three EVAP codes. I reset, it stays off for a few days then comes back. Usually just the 440 code I think, but sometimes the others as well.
