Thanks! Yeah, they sure do salt the roads. I try to spray the truck off after storms but logistically I can't always do it. That's what I'd contribute the frame rust to. As for the tailgate I was told that they all rust... but they only fix it if you complain.
I turned in my 2006 4runner a few years ago and picked up an 08 sierra. Just thought I'd post my thoughts for anyone looking to go that route.
After 3 years and 34,000 miles I find myself overall pretty happy with the truck, however there's definitely room for improvement. I'll keep this short...
Turned in my 06 SE and now have my WeatherTechs for sale... Used about two years, good shape but the usual scuffing on the drivers side. Paid 175... I would take 80 for the set (Front and back). Prefer local pickup (Brunswick, Maine area) Thanks for looking
Cthusker,
I just went through the same dilemma and ended up turning in the vehicle.
here are a couple of my reasons:
My buyout before tax was almost 22,000
Standard warranty was almost up at 3 years
Tire tread was also getting pretty low
I would not dare drive a sophisticated vehicle...
Thanks Thai!
I test drove the Tundra as well and it is a very nice truck(WOW, is that 5.7 a beast!). But I was surprised about the gas milage; seemed very low for a Toyota. And when it came down to warranty and discounts I had to go with the gmc.
I'm not hating on any of you Trundra owners...
Yeah, the Trail Edition looks pretty sweet! I would have looked closer at it but found myself in need of a truck over an suv. Drywall doesn't fit in the 4r very well.
You'll laugh, but I bought a gmc sierra.
Insert joke here.......
I decided to turn the old girl in.
I really liked the 4Runner but after weighing my options I couldn't make the buy out work on paper.
I think I'll continue to lurk around here and perhaps see what the 5th gen looks likes. ;-)
Sweet Tires!
And way off subject................
CJ3Flyer, NetJets is hiring! Good company, good bennies and live where you want! Been there there three years with no regrets.
That sucks about your dealer being a jerk. I had the same problem and there were no questions asked. The dealer got me a new seat asap. You may want to try another dealer
I have had the same noise ever sense I got mine. Asked the dealer and they said it was normal. I also checked the owners manual and it confirmed what they said. Something about a pressure valve if I remember correctly. I know what you are saying though; sometimes it sounds awful!
