I dont want to lift it

Hello All, My 99 Runner is high enough but it rides very harsh compared to when it was new. What suggestions can be made to get the ride back to newish? thanx all in advance for your suggestions. cheers, willie

    Adding DRL's, power source

thanx all for your input and yes, should have mentioned mine is a 99 therefore no DRL's. In the fusebox under hood I either checked all the fuses with a voltmeter or tried all the circuits without the key in and found they all are hot without the key. It just would have been much simpler as...

    Adding DRL's, power source

Greetings All, I added DRL's to my 3rd gen but am not happy with my source of power. I simply wanted a 12V source after ignition, not all the time (of course). Well I literally tapped the 12V source for my windshield wipers which has been okay except I now have an issue with the wipers not...

    3rd Gen to 5th Gen

I picked up a trd pro 4Runner a year ago, thought it would be a nice upgrade and compliment to my 99. Here is the problem for me, YMMV... I thought the new technology especially in 4wd would be awesome...well with the pro you have soooo many options to pick when in 4wd that it became a nuisance...

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

rear bumper work had some fairly deep dings in both the center and right sections so ordered them from Rock Auto and changed em out. Thanx to good write ups on this pretty simple work (of course it helps when the vehicle has spent its entire life in Arizona :-) and the nuts n bolts spin right...

Overheating w/ AC on in PHX

my 99 has been in phx for the past many years (original owner in Prescott I got it with 42xxx on the clock, it has 126xxx on the clock now) and no hint of overheating but then I have never had any issues with it at all. gauge always is just below mid point. good luck amigo, willie

    What wire is this?

hehe, yea, we are blessed in Arizona to have minimal exterior issues but the heat can be pretty damaging to interiors unless garage and shade kept all its life. I got my 99 14ish years ago from a gent in Prescott, Az where it was purchased new with 40K on the clock, now its got 126K on the...

    one crazy dude?

well, again IMHO the 4th gen grew so much from the 3rd gen and does not have the Traction Control system like the 5th gens (which is a really nice 4WD system). I just really love the compactness of the 3rd gen from a drivers ergo perspective as well as getting through the tight stuff off road...

    one crazy dude?

in my humble opinion the 3rd gen interior and exterior is the best of all the gens. Love the cloth interior and it has held up well. I have to agree it is very tough to top the active traction control introduced in the 5th gens but like mentioned, way more fun with skill in the 3rd gens and...

    one crazy dude?

anyone else here that owns a great 3rd gen and had/has enough money to keep it and buy a TRD Pro, drive it a while, take it out 4wheeling and fall completely OUT of love with it as they are soooo big, interior ergonomics suck pretty bad especially the high placement of the window controls n...

Tell me about re-gearing my 5th gen

Ah for the good ol days...back in 1970 I purchased my first 4WD (and still own it), a 1971 CJ5 Jeep. Before purchase I was pleasantly surprised when I took a look at the rear diff and saw the 4.89 posi tag. I knew immediately what I was going to do and did so within the week...purchased a 0.7...
