Headed to the lake
After much searching for bar solutions that would work for carrying a canoe I ended up calling the manufacturer (Perrycraft) of the very basic and mostly useless aftermarket roof rack that wasn't put on at the factory but uses rails right beside the factory rail mount holes. Why the original owner or the dealer didn't use the factory mounting holes is beyond me. since there were already 2 sets of holes in the roof I didn't want to put another set just to upgrade to a yak or thule bar system. Anyway, Perrycraft makes an upgrade kit that allows you to change out the "stanchion" towers (the ones that most 4runners seem to have) with passthrough towers. This allows you to go from 75 lbs of distributed weight to 150 lbs and you can get longer bars. I went with the 70" ones for now and may end up trimming them a little or might not. They don't stick out any more than my side mirrors and would actually allow me to carry more stuff. The bars are compatible with yak & thule accessories. I thought I would share since I noticed a lot of people on the rack threads seem to have the same issue.
Anyway, it was a great afternoon on Lake Jocassee yesterday afternoon.

I've taken off the running boards, changed air filter with k&n, cleaned MAF and throttle body, oil change this weekend and had it professionally detailed on the interior. (1st week)
Looking to replace radiator and change out suspension. OME if I can find a deal and in stock.
But I got this used 97' a week ago with 170k on it and it seems to have the driver side sag. :-( #1stworldproblems
I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems high riding for stock.
Lastly, does anyone know what wheels these are? Definitely not stock but the Goodyear Wrangler tires are in good condition.
