Well I finally had some time to get down there today and I called and mentioned I heard it all before about the clunk is normal etc. I know about the lexus install etc. The way he left it is he said before I go any further he told me to sit tight for about a month bc he knows a recall is...

Just spoke with a service manager at Toyota and he said within a month a notice is going out that they are issuing a recall for the drive shafts. This is great news for all of us who are living with that clunk.

Thanks, thats a great start to what Im looking for. Being a little proactive should get this problem fixed like TeryT has done. Especially the situation Toyota is in now, when I talked to the service tech he was more genuinely nice then they usually are..hmmm

Like I said been there done that! Not everyone's vehicle is the same and I have done the extra shots of grease etc. Does anyone know the gx470 driveshaft pt # that some 4runner owners are getting put in their vehicle besides TeryT who is gone for the wknd?

Nah, not interested in that, been doing that for a while and the clunk comes back very quickly. Trying to keep this thread short and to the point here.

After searching around for a while, and have not come across the part # for the driveshaft clunk issue. For those of you clunk free what was your fix and or new driveshaft part number? Thanks to TeryT as well.

When my fan is on higher then the low setting (heat or AC on) my 08 4runner with 13k miles on it DOES NOT lurch or clunk at stops. when it is off the rpms tend to pick up and drop off from time to time.

I dont like the fogs, interior looks cheap, and the projector head lights are gone. Only thing I like is the gauges.

Well I never had a surge when driving like the thread started stated. Holding the gas at a steady 70 and it jumping up and down..never had that problem with my 08 v8..

jack it up and try to spin the wheel, it should spin freely. It is hard to tell when you are driving. I had this problem before when changing pads on a car and had to take them off.
