I have 285s and really like them , thought about getting the 255s but the rigs I saw with them on looked too skinny . As for someone saying the 255 perform better almost every way on and off road is crazy ! Maybe in loose mud with hard bottom or for on road less drag but other than that ...

On yotatech there is a list of Toyota junk yards , I get parts for my truck all the time shipped here . Toyota jims just shipped me some thing the other day . I bet if you tried you could have a complete rear diff shipped to you for around $500 .

i burned out my elocker motor on my rear diff , i could not find 1 any where and the dealer was $900 . i called junk yards all over the country and nobody would sell me just the motor . i ended up buying a complete rear diff and taking off the motor just shipping it an letting them keep the rear...

I have a 99 limited and I had to fix some rust holes in the frame , very easy to do if you know how to weld . Mine is not a dd because of lift , tires and mpg' but I would not hesitate to dd it , I would drive it across the country without thinking twice . These trucks are very very reliable...

Make sure your in 4x low . While you have the locker motor out press the locker button to Lock it . Then take a screwdriver and slide the gear in the rear all the way to the left (looking at the rear ) . Make sure rear is locked . Put it back together and it should work , not sure why it...

Looks like the back of it corroded away , it was stuck to the rear diff after I removed the bolts . I don't think turning on dry asphalt would do this anyway , all the locker does is move a slide over in the diff to lock it . Trying to track a junk yard down that has one , I don't want to...
