Quick question -

Can someone explain to me what differences exist in the installation procedure for a Daystar levelling spacer (the 1" one) versus the full 3" spacer lift to the front of a 4th Gen with X-REAS?

He's got some good info on there that may answer some of your questions. Unfortunately I'm a newbie when it comes to lifts so I can't help myself.

The installation of the xreas version of the spacer is really no different from the non-xreas version. the only limitation would be that you will not be able to remove your strut/shock away from your vehicle because of the xreas line. you simply will have to work under the confines of your wheelwell to get the spacer installed.

It takes abit of working around things but it's not that difficult. I've done several installation literally using only hand tools (why on earth, don't ask) but we did it (2 guys really sweating it hard).

I would recommend that you pick up some cotter pins (autozone, pepboys, etc) as you'll want to remove your tie rod. I don't remember if this is in the instruction but disconnecting your tie rod will be a great thing to do (makes life easier). remember to reinstall it and use new cotter pins (old ones not recommended).

Let me clarify - I'm really leaning hard toward just doing the leveling spacer (1"), instead of the full lift (reasons why are numerous). Is it pretty much the same installation procedure for either the 1" or 3" up front?

I'm trying to figure out how bitter I will be if I have to go through all the same work of a full lift, just to put in 1 inch.

I have installed Cornbred spacers on a Tacoma using only hand tools. I'm hoping you will tell me that the 1 inch Daystar spacer has a much simpler installation. :upset:

If I were you I would definitely go for the full 3" lift. I went for the 2.5 Daystar and wish I had gone the 3". I won't bother changing now as my next lift is likely to be new coils/shocks/disconnect the XREAS. due to the new bullbar/winch etc.

I understand the guy wishing he'd done the 3" lift. The reason i didn't was b/c that was the revtech lift and i believe it required removing the XREAS system. As a long time toyota owner...the XREAS system has made the everyday driving of Toy's SUV's and trucks more pleasurable. I loved my 98 Tacoma, but the ride sucked. When I drove the 4thGen 4R I was amazed. Therefore, since i'm not into heavy offroading, I wanted the comfort. I DO think if you're going to lift, don't bother with a 1" level. The 4R is already level if you stand back and look at the running board. The cladding gives you the illusion that the rear is higher.

Actually the 3" lift is the Cornfed lift. You still retain the Xreas.
