Gaia GPS Launches First Outdoor Maps for Apple CarPlay - Gaia GPS

This is fantastic news for the off-roading community that uses Gaia as their primary source of off-pavement navigation.

If your rig has a CarPlay enabled infotainment system, this means those folks will no longer need a standalone mounted iPad/iPad mini to run Gaia on your dash.

Simply load the maps to your phone, and cast that to your built-in nav screen using CarPlay.

My buddy and are are too! We emailed each other the news at the same exact time.

Anyone test it out yet? How much of the functionality comes over?

Then the most important question, if its awesome, whats the best way to get Carplay into a 5gen? My friend has it in his 100series LC. He hasn't had a chance to play with it yet and he's about to start a lift project on the truck so maybe a bit before any feedback.
 
I currently run Android but wanted Gaia on carplay so I used an old iPhone 6 with no service attached and downloaded all the maps I need for that given trip. So far has worked out really well...

From their help site as of 5 days ago... :sobbing:

"It turns out this request is currently impossible - Google does not allow 3rd party navigation apps in Android Auto (only Google Maps, Waze, and non-navigation apps from 3rd parties are allowed). When it become possible, we will seriously consider building it!"
