Chevy dealer sells car for wrong price, apologizes after having buyer arrested

Thought this was funny. Now the guy is most likely coming away with enough to buy 10 new cars!

Saw this, I don't know what the legal ramifications are, but I think the customer tried to be "fresh" and take advantage of the dealers mistake. How the hell aren't you going to notice an additional $4500 in options in your car????

I'd like to know what comes of this...........

If I owned that dealership I would fire the person that made the call to the cops immediately. Whomever the owner has in power there is obviously an idiot. Dealers don't call consumers and say "sorry I overcharged you, come back and let me lower it" SO , don't make the call saying a mistake was made,come back for the $5000 increase.

I would feel differently if this were a day later, but over a month later, Hellllll Nah! There is "no cooling off" period in VA. So actually the deal is done the minute the owner takes possession and all 4 wheels hit public property from the dealerships property.

The dealer should have moved on. A contract is just that...a legal, binding document and once signed IT'S DONE!

While I am the sort to rarely consider taking the legal route, in this case I would definitely drop the hammer on this dealership. It was THEIR mistake, plain and simple--they should've owned up to that and ate the loss. To have a customer arrested for going home with a good deal is ludicrous! These guys signed the vehicle over, for the agreed-upon price--tough luck if it was the wrong price. Does anyone think they would've called the customer back if he had been OVER-charged, and refunded the difference?? If you do, I want what you're smoking! Definitely drop the legal hammer on 'em.

We had a dealership try that on us once. I told them I'd be happy to have their lawyer talk it out with mine. They threatened to report the car stolen, and so I called the cops myself and met the officer at the dealership with a copy of the title and the sales documents and we had it out right there on their sales floor with all their potential customers watching.

They stopped bugging me after that.

I don't think he is justified in asking 2.2 million. But, I think he deserves some sort of compensation.

You handle things the same way I would--just slam the door shut before they can walk through it. As soon as they mentioned the cops, I'd probably call them myself, too--nip it in the bud right then and there. They signed a legal agreement just like you did--they need to honor it. If they didn't do their due diligence, tough luck--they'd do the same to you if you signed paperwork that gave them a trade-in for much less than you thought you were getting.

salesmans gets pissed he forgot to calculate his commission into the deal then calls cops...lol...nice...you know they still made a profit off that thing, a 5~6k loss on the vehicle is less than the owner lost in depreciation just driving it off the lot.

i see nothing wrong with suing for 2.2million, this is America , ask for as much as you can and take whatever the courts will give you,i see this as more valid than the whole hot coffee lawsuit for millions a while back..... the fact this is news may kick a few dealerships in the bud and make them think twice about doing this again, it sounds as if this happens every now and again for your guys' stories here...i don;t know to be glad or upset that i've never had this sort of issue, i mean , you know you got a killer deal when the dealerships calling the cops on you to try and get out of the deal! haha!

years ago my FIL purchased a new F150 and when the finance guy wrote up the paperwork, he wrote in 1 payment for $250. My FIL corrected him and said that is not the correct amount of monthly payments.

I told him he was nuts, I would have signed it all and then left.

Even after telling them of their mistake, they called him a few days later and said he owed more money. Apparently the dealership made a deal with another dealership to get him the truck, they didn't realize it had several extras added onto it. Things he didn't ask for but no one pointed out to him either. He told them what he wanted, they (thought) found it at another dealership....he had it a few days later.

He did tell them tough on that one.
