What i am really liking is the upcoming LG Nexus 4 (release on 11/13/12)...quad core Snapdragon S4 PRO (not the A9 dual core crap), next gen IPS full RGB LCD HD (no SAMOLED nor Pentile crap!), 2GB RAM, 8MP camera, 4.2 software, and pure Nexus experience (and more frequent updates)..........and the pièce de résistance: price of $349 (16gb) no-contract. $349 + Straight Talk = mighty fine bargain!!!!

THAT would be my Android handset of choice currently.

It mostly beats out Exynos from Samsung. Both are the newest quad cores for smartphones/tablets.
How does the new S4 PRO compare to Apple A6? Here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2410034,00.asp
You can compare the numbers b/w the two articles. (Hint: A6 beats them all...despite being a mere dual core processor with 3 GPU cores running at a mere 1.0-1.3 Ghz.)

I don't have a dog in the smart phone fight but have never been a fan of apple's reality distortion field based on my interaction with products a decade and more ago.

real world tests
I conducted some real world tests:
bluetooth file transfer speed:
Iphone5: 0
SGS3: much more than 0
time to assign song as ringtone:
iphone5: about 2 minutes with itunes, about 5 mins if I have to boot PC and start itunes. much more than that if I haven't downloaded itunes.
SGS3: under 1 second.
attaching a file to email
iphone5: wtf is a file?
SGS3: around 10sec
downloading some pr0n
iphone5: there's no pr0n on the net
SGS3: download in progress
battery swaps
iphone5: about 10 mins if you are good with tools
SGS3: about 30 seconds with blindfold on
Swapping SD cards:
iphone5: what sd card
SGS3: fiddly but possible with just one hand and a chin
sharing a URL via barcode
iphone5: highlight and copy URL from browser, open barcode app, paste URL in barcode app. about 20seconds or so.
SGS3: menu--->share--->barcode. about 3 seconds if you pause 1 second between clicks.
I could write a book on this!

What a world we live in where we can't wait an extra mili-second for something/anything to happen. Even though I am an impatient person, I'd choose to wait the extra time for the GS3. That is, if I even cared enough to update my old phone, which I don't.
I still think the whole phone conversation comes down to user interface and what you want out of your phone. I know there are people out there that will swear one is better than the other. But to me, it is just a phone, not a status symbol or accessory. Just a means of communication that (most of the time) I choose to leave at home or in the car because I don't want to be that accessible.

We all know your preference...so, why act innocent? You must surely see that the person JB posted about do care about seconds as do most folks.
But, to your point, couldn't you say that about anything? 3rd gen vs. 4th gen 4runners...they are just cars...why does it matter that its crawl ratio is 34 vs. 28? What does it matter that a BMW M3 makes it to 60 mph in 4.8 vs. 5.1 in the IS350? Why does it matter that the new Prius can get 50 mpg while the older one only 46 mpg?

Because it does matter...it may not be a big deal on the surface, but down low, how a processor spits out information means a world of difference, not in just opening or closing an app, but how well a game (or an app) operates...how well the graphics gel together into one frame...how well it downloads information or spits them out to a site...how smooth the sky looks scrolling thru on a game...how the colors don't stutter from frame to frame....

not sure how you could do it in under 1 second... it takes me about 2 minutes to download and assign a ringtone on itunes from my phone. that includes browsing for the song... so he is saying that he can download and assign a song in under 1 second? right
and porn... really? since when does the iphone block out porn? i know for a fact mine doesn't :naughty:
