Why is nothing being done about this?

What makes you think nothing is being done about it?

"The map uses red dots to mark more than 600 corporate, private or government "Victims of Chinese Cyber Espionage" that were attacked over a five-year period, with clusters in America's industrial centers."

I heard on NPR that a spokesperson said that there needs to be a "deterrent" and "consequences" in the future (I can't find the story to quote it). Insinuating that something is/will be done. Enabling economic sanctions against known hacker countries such as China and Russia would be the deterrent. Of course, no one will go to war over it. Having that said, I'm sure the NSA or whatever gov. agency have "hacked" other countries yet not nothing is said in the stupid media (major media outlets) we have.

Lets stop and really think about this. Lets look at the leadership and really think about this issue.

There definately needs to be a deterrant. But, as you said, no one's going to go to war over it.

I see where you're coming from as far as the NSA "hacking" other countries, but IMHO, there's a difference.

Although our economy might not be that great at the moment, we have led the way in more technological, pharmaceutical, and medical developments than most other countries.

IMHO, the United States "hacking" into another country's systems is a way for us to keep tabs on someone, and, in the interest of National Security, copy files to be able to protect ourselves, or repel an attack.

The NSA does it now through cell phones, e-mails, and internet searches.

And while the majority of people in the US think this is an invasion of privacy, look how many people have been arrested under terriorism "plots".

It's the silent ones you have to worry about.

BUT, when another country is hacking into data bases, such as Lockheed Martin, one of the MAJOR suppliers of the aircraft and defense systems that we have today, then there's a problem.

Hybrid cars, I can understand.

Pharmaceutical products, I can understand, but also worries me a bit.

Why would China need to know about the US military and civilian air traffic control systems? Are they planning an attack, and trying to figure out how to bring out systems down so we can't retailiate?

Ok, here's the thing.

Everything they are doing to us? We are doing to them.

Consequences? Like?

Because whatever consequence we inflict on them will then be inflicted on us.

You don't piss into the wind!

Things are being done and SHOULD be done passively.

You can't just always act like a schoolyard bully unless you want your own teeth knocked out as well...

Espionage is a subtle game.

This is probably something to keep in mind the next time you hear someone say Russia (Putin) is America's greatest threat. Or Iran is America's greatest threat.

People in the media treat China and Saudi Arabia as if they are America's greatest friends yet when speaking of Russia or Iran they act as if they want to wipe us off the map.

Does it really add up?

Take it one step further, war is BIG business and so is media coverage of it. Everything makes sense once you follow the money...

This will be long but if you want try and bear with me. In my opinion the question we always need to ask is what really happened, keeping in mind that there are 2 sides to every story. I think of it this way: If my son goes to school and I hear he beat up other kids I will get involved by asking what happened from him and the other teachers and perhaps even the other parents and kids. If he was defending himself against kids that tried to bully him I will tell him that he did the right thing if another method was Unavoidable (keep in mind UNAVOIDABLE). IF that's what really happened. If he bullied other kids I will do everything as a father to guarantee that he never again disrespect or impose himself on others. With the necessary constructive punishment as much as possible rather than beating him.

My point is, we all love America. It has been an example to other countries since it was founded in my opinion except until the last maybe 15 years. America is like our son in the above example. We MUST stick up for him when he is right, and although we love him but we can't congratulate him when he's simply wrong.

Putin "invading" Crimea for example. The Russians keep saying, 'show us evidence that we invaded' and we keep saying, 'RUSSIA INVADED, RUSSIA INVADED..." Lets ask what really happened before we start accusing. Just my opinion.

Why would we do anything about it? China holds us by the financial balls...

"Everything is Obama's fault" is a wonderfully ignorant and convenient way to live a simpletons life.

I burned my toast this morning, f'ing goddamn Obama.

I think he's looking at the federal government as a whole, not just Obama. Least that's what I took it as.

When we need a scape goat in politics, we are not being represented and/or we are not doing enough. Corruption has ruined the political process and there is no end in sight unless you can make politicians accountable to the majority of the constitutants.

Good luck on that. Only way that'll happen is another revolution. Plain and simple.
