it would work. but i want to keep the center lines of my current grill. maybe ill just flat black the other stripes to avoid cutting and use metal mesh painted white above and below the middle piece.

keep em coming.

Why wouldn't it work? All the grilles are interchangeable.

i know they are interchangeable, i just misunderstood the question i guess. i though he was just wanting to use the grill he had and not get another one?

but i'm interested in some ideas too, i think Matthew Starr??(i think that was his username) made a grille awhile back that looked pretty good.

I think I'm getting a new one because everyone seems to hate mine...

god damn waste of money and a grille.

I think 01-02 grill with no mods looks best. I wish mine wasn't cut or i'd revert it back.

maybe painting the billet black will be better?

here's some pics of what I did with mine...

Started by cutting out the fins, then sanded down the posts that held the fins in place. Then I again sanded it with lighter sandpaper just to scuff up the whole thing. Cut out some mesh from Home Depot and glued it in place using RTV. I chose RTV because it's thick and has body to it, unlike super glue which is runny and thin. After this I taped off all the chrome, removed the Toyota emblem and did two coats of primer, two coats of flat black, peeled the tape off and installed! Took about 4.5 hours from start to finish

The Satoshi mod works the best with the '96-'98 grills because the bars were set back and easy to cut away but in '99 the grill got as little more complex and wasn't as easy to cut up and make look right.

Alot of people will trade their newer grill to do the mod with somebody that wants the newer grill on their pre '99s.

if i was you james i would just take out the billet sections, (if you can ) and then just fill in the blank spots like LINY did w/ his. i'm about to fix mine up in the upcoming weak. i got a can of Krylon Fusion paint that is supposed to bond to plastic so i'm gonna get rid of that chrome grill for just a plain black one.

see i had the mesh grill like liny does, and it was an easy mod, but i got bored of it......

so i got the same one that bodum has now.

and i like it and all.... but it doenst blow me away, plus the bas**** was supposed to send me black and he sent me silver.....

but i think in the long run i may sell it and do the Satoshi mod

really? I thought I was the only one.

Mind posting a pic?

See, I saw the eBay ad and it looked awesome to me when it was on the silver truck... I still thought it looked good on mine but I'm sick of hearing that it looks mexican or tacky (no offense to anyone, not trying to discriminate).

Paint might be in order soon... maybe I'll get it color matched to Imperial Jade along with the grille when I do the bumpers?

Mine VS the ad photo:

pics outdated, sorry, just imagine green 02 mirrors and no license plate

James I would just paint the billet part black and see how that looks. I think it would look good with the Imperial Jade Mica and wouldn't stand out too much but would still make a noticeable difference to you and others who notice things like that. Let us know what you end up deciding!

:D

you know my name!

I am not sure if I want to do it because if I don't like it I'd have ****ed up my grille.

Photoshop?

I'll try that.

Thanks David

Bodum, if you dont like it you can always strip it back down to silver, even though i think that its probably just silver painted :p

or you can always repaint to silver, keep that in mind

your the reason why i bought the grill in the first place. i have been looking for a good billet grill for days, and this one in my opinion looks the best
