Just introducing my new rig, a 2001 4runner sr5 2wd. Been a Jeep Wrangler owner for 7 yrs and sold it so I could have something that tows better and has more room.

4runner runs fine, but when it goes over 60mph there is some vibration going on. I have read this is common for 4runners, so I had it checked out. Everything in the front is fine..u joints etc. My tire guy thinks it is a bearing in the rear end. I know many of you have had this situation, just wondering if it was a bearing that made your rig do the same thing. Thanks.

What is the mileage?
Remember, many people who own's a truck don't know that they have to change oil in the axles/transfer cases etc., Try getting fresh oil in the front and rear Diff.

I also had this vibration at about 65-70 MPH. My truck has 180 K miles. I did my own research (we know 4runners better than those techs) and it was the drive shaft (propeller shaft) after getting an alignment and 2 x wheel balancing and rotation.

You can check this by completely removing the rear drive shaft from your truck and then drive with 4wd - hi mode (using only the front wheels to pull the truck) See whether you get the same vibration. If you are good, buy a used drive shaft ($40 - $100) Check the U-joints by hand before purchase.
