01 4runner replacing water pump - how much work to change seals?

I am currently just removed the water pump.
I am replacing everything I can - that needs it.

My kit came with seals, I am not seeing any oil leaks so I am not sure about messing with them. Do they require special tools to install? How do I hold the cam gears to remove the bolts?

Also, my water pump came with a metal/rubber type gasket.
Do people still put sealant on it? What type - I would have to buy some.

There is a small hose from the thermostat housing. My kit did not come with one. Is this difficult to replace?

I can only help with the gasket question...my mechanic told me that water pump gasket does not require anything extra for it to seal...hopefully someone else will chime in with the other answers for ya!

if it ain't leaking or dont look bad don't worry about it as for the water pump just stick it on and don't over torque it
