02-06 Camry Overhead Console Compatibility?

Does anyone know if overhead console from the 02-06 Camry fit the 4gen 4runner? I saw some pictures on eBay and they *look* exactly the same, but I'm hoping to get verification from someone who has access to both a 4gen T4R and an 02-06 Camry and may have actually tried this. The unit just pops in/out on clips. I tried doing a part number comparison, but I couldn't find just a partnumber for the Camry overhead console.

Pics below are from ebay: The gray OHC is listed as 4runner item, the beige item is listed for a Camry.

Thanks.

Okay, I answered my own question. Took a chance and bought a camry overhead console for cheap--less than $30 shipped--from eBay and it fits, even thought the part numbers for the two are different. (I bought the eBay console for the homelink functionality which is not on my current overhead console.)

Just be careful about the colors. The one I bought was advertised as "grey" but it didn't match my "stone" interior (the camry one is much lighter with almost a beige look to it--maybe similar to the "fawn" T4R interior, but I don't have any "fawn" plastic to compare it to...). I don't know how interior colors for the Camry compared to the T4R across similar model years. I ended cannibalizing the homelink board and the push-button bezel from the eBay console. The bezel doesn't match exactly, but I can live with it.

Now you have some options for your O/H console upgrade...

I remember asking the same question awhile ago but it appeared that nobody had tried it out.

Thanks for that info!! :bigok:

Very cool!

:trophy:Is the Homelink all contained in the console or is there an additional module required? Was it plug-n-play with the harnesses?

Yep, plug and play. There are two additional circuit boards connected by a ribbon in the homelink version; these are built into the console at assembly and of course the bezel with the 3 homelink buttons, but the electrical plug connector in the headliner is exactly the same for the homelink and non-homelink version.

The console is held in place by 2 clips in the front (towards the hood) and a claw in the back. Work your fingers under the front of the console and pull firmly. It will pop out.
