02 4runner accident suspension and steering damage

OK ... so i am there going home on a Thursday night from school when some old mexican dude crosses right in front of me and hits... my 02 4runnernew front 20" rims & tire with this 92 ford escort . tire is slightly bent inward one wheel faces one way the other faces the other way ( \ /) and the side i was hit on the weel is moved considerably back from where it is suposed to be.

Thank god he had insurance (although allstate is crap) I took the truck to the dealer shop as I still believe theyre the best equipped for this sort of job and have the best chances for warranty recognition in case i need it.

Allstate went to take a "preliminary" look at the truck and they only put the cosmetic parts on the appraisal... and said "IF" they needed anything else to have the shop call for a supplement.

Today the shop started to look at it and they tell me I need a new steering cupling new CV joint and new left upper and lower arm amongst other. now looking at the damage i saw that the CV joint is pushed back a little enough so that they power steering hose completely came off and leaked all the fluid out. and they have not yet measured to see if and how much frame damage there is


My question to you fellow 4runner enthusiasts out there is given this kind of damage. Can my truck be saved (by insurance standards). and If insurance determines theyre going to fix it is worth keeping the car (will it ever be the same) or is it better to start dusting off the white shoe polish to put it up for sale.

So far this is what they have:

New Fender
New Rack and pinion
New park lamp
new fender flare
new bumper
new bumper filler
new fix fog lamp assembly
replace front wheel
steering gear assembly
Steering column jacket
new running board
alignment

plus all the labor to take apart, put together, paint and blend

Grand Total $4912.53 (So far) at the Toyota Dealership body shop.

Its taken Allstate 3 trips to the shop for supplements to get this far..... Lets see if 3rd time is the charm.

I have Allstate, but I am not offended by your comments-they are a bureaucracy that is for sure-and quick is not their specialty that is darn sure.

Glad to hear the other driver had insurance so you are not out your collision deductible.

And most important I get the impression there were no injuries and that is probably the only good news to come out of an accident.

Sorry to hear the repairs are going slow. It sounds like you are doing the right thing as far as making sure everything is done correctly and to your satisfaction.
That kind of repair work should be straight forward I would think and I see no reason (other than the crap service) that your rig shouldnt end up driving and feeling just like it used to.

Sometimes you can get your insurance to fix everything and have them go after the other guys insurance, If not then start charging them for a rental as well, also dude its a Toyota if the fames not bent FIX IT!

well u guys are saying if it will ever be better....
ofcorse (thats if you get the car back) cuz u are getting all new parts!

but i truly am sorry about the bad times... sorry to say this is adding another reason why we should pay taxes to ship them all back to mexico (please no comments about that its just me)

I thought that is what most insurance companies do as policy?? Allstate has really no say in what is done to your vehicle other than they have to put it back to pre-accident condition. I would call your insurance company and have them take care of the issue- that is what you pay them for. They (Allstate) also should be paying for your rental car from day one.

They are however paying for a rental from day one, even though that costed me a nasty argument with the adjustor and had to call my insurance agent to call them up and fight for it... Theyre just a$$holes with all the sense of the word.

Ouch I'm sorry you even had to experience being hit in the first place outside of crappy insurance service you're getting.

I hope Allstate comes through and pays up on everything that needs to be fixed.

Oh God help you! They are going to try and cut corners wherever they can because it is a loss for them on both ends! You need to be forceful with the adjusters and tell them what you expect, in no uncertain terms...
