Hi, I have 2002 SR5 auto transmission w/ 110k miles.
When it shifts between 1st and 2nd there's a clunking sound and you can kind of feel it since it shifts hard. Now this morning I think I noticed a little slipping when going in reverse out of the driveway. Are these two issues connected in terms of reverse deals with those same gears?
Recently, my transmission cooler got a hole and antifreeze/trans fluid were being transferred between the radiator and transmission.
My mechanic told me hopefully it was fixed early enough and he flushed the trans several times because he said antifreeze in the trans can ruin it (affects the seals?).
Now after this last repair, I'm paranoid and waiting for something to happen to my trans. Does the shifting symptoms sound like it would be caused by the transmission cooler failing? Are they unrelated? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Dave.
