02' Fuel gauge not working

Hey guys, I've read up on this as much as I can and am still in need of some answers/help. I dropped my skid plate the other day and in the process I unbolted the 4 screws closest to the transfer case and the tank partially fell become I caught it and the tube/wires connecting it held it in place. After this my truck wouldn't start. Keep in mind that I also had the dash pulled and took some bulbs out so maybe my problem is behind the dash? Anyway I pulled up the carpet under the rear seat behind the driver and unscrewed the 3 screws holding the plate on and there were 5 wires hanging with little connectors on the ends. I pushed these back into where I thought they belonged and started up my truck. The gas gauge still isn't working.


Is this a problem behind the dash, with the location I plugged the wires into, or is this the fuel sending unit itself?

Does anyone have a diagram of which wires plug into where on top of the fuel tank? Im wondering if the gauge is directly related to one of the wires I plugged back in.

There's only one plug that plugs into the top of the tank. Did the wires get pulled out of it? I'll dig up a diagram

There is 1 plug with 5 wires that go into it on my 02. The wires have little rubber grommets around them. Im going to check after work to be sure I fully seated them into the right holes. Maybe i didnt put them all the way in? I can snap a photo today after work.

Here is the unit and wires. I need someone to tell me which wires go where. These are all plugged in to see if I could figure out where each goes. If they are in the wrong order my truck will either not start or throw the gas and RPM gauge needle up and down. Any help would be great!

I cant figure out how to upload a picture to the thread. I have photos of the sending unit in my profile with the wires.

You still have the same motor, plug ins...ect.before you change to SAS?

Edit... After reading more of your problem and what you did, I would adventure when pulling on the wires on the connectors, some may have came in contact with others inside that you can't see. Not an easy fix without testing meters and diagrams, and numbers. And don't ask me, I'm just a illiterate peckerwood.

Hey I was trying to be helpful, I think when the tank was pulling on the wire, wires in the connector are making contact with each other. Maybe under the dash connectors.

As far as shit talk. I wasn't the dunb f'ck that tore the shit apart in that manor to have problems like this.... DOHHH.....:caked::ybrick::nod:
