Howdy all. Figured its about time I showed off my unimpressive ride, a 2002 2wd SR5 4runner with 155k miles. Had it for 2 years now and it gets me to college, work, and a few hunting/fishing trips every so often. Haven't had any major issues with it and I wouldn't mind keeping it around for a long time so got to thinking this might as good a time as any to do a bit of upgrading now that I've got a bit of cash saved up (college student budget doesn't leave much to spare

Acquired it with 128k miles and previous owner had timing belt replaced at 99k miles. I've had done a tranny fluid flush, brake job (fluid flush, new hoses,) radiator flush, rear differential fluid flush. And of course oil change every 5k miles.

Theres a dent on this side in front of the fender flare (long story..) that also broke off the bottom flare. Had an estimate done and would cost me $500-$700 to fix. Its just a dent so I've let it sit for a long time now but wouldn't mind getting rid of it once and for all..
Power antenna got bent in a car wash so it doesnt retract completely now..
So yea. Its not exactly a clean ride. Previous owner also managed to line the sides with scratches and scuffs from.. tree branches? Don't know really. And a few paint chips here and there. But for a 13 year old vehicle it aint too shabby.
Current ideas I've been looking into:
- improving suspension for a more comfortable ride. The trail to my fishing spots are pretty bumpy and going over tree roots really bounces this rig. Not necessarily looking for a total lift since i dont actually do any real off-roading and its my DD so I'd like to keep mpg up.
-tires. Looking for something that would fit stock but be a bit agressive since its 2wd, but its also my daily driver.
Also noticed this "molding" piece on the rear doors at the bottom of the windows is loose. The light colored tab can be wiggle quite a bit and the bar to the left can be pryed up a bit. Any ideas to fix it? Super glue the sucker back down or what?
Really enjoy learning from this site. After a few "hiccups" from having auto shop work done I'd like to be able to tackle some of the work myself, though I dont have a lot of experience turning wrenches. My neighbor on the other hand is pretty good when it comes to cars, so if I do venture into major upgrades he'd be happy to help.
1 more thing just thought of, what kind of fishing rod transport rig do some of you guys run? My freshwater poles are all 7foot long so they reach almost all the way from back to windshield. Thinking about maybe picking up a ski rack for cheap (something like this- Amazon.com: Apex Roof Ski Rack - 4 Pair Skis or 2 Snowboards: Rage Powersports: Sports & Outdoors) since "fishing rod racks" of the same design are more expensive.
