02 Sport & keyless entry?

I had an 01 Limited that had keyless entry and I had no problem programming new factory remotes for it.
Now I have an 02 Sport with just a metal key. So I bought a factory remote and can't get the truck to go into "programming mode".

So my question is, can a factory 3 bottom remote be programmed to an 02 Sport with power door locks?

I just reprogrammed a new keyless remote for my 02 sport the other day. Are you sure you are following the steps exactly? Mine worked fine. Do the following:

1) unlock the drivers side door and leave it open.
2) put in the key to the ignition and pull it out.
3) lock then unlock the drivers side door 5 times, using a 1 second count pace.
4) close and then open the drivers side door.
5) repeat the 5 times locking and locking.
6) put key in ignition, and turn it to the position just prior to engine start, then off. Do this twice.
7) pull key out of igition. The doors will automatically lock and unlock twice to signal it is in programming mode.
8) on your keyless remote, press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously and leg go.
9) press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds.
10) the locks will cycle to indicate the programming is successful
11) close the drivers side door. This completes the programming.

Be patient and follow the steps exactly.

It looks like I have some lazy actuator motors that I need to replace first. Thanks for the reply.

You can help the actuators along by pushing and pulling them in and out if you need to but you have to be fast about it or have someone help you out. My drivers side actuator was weak so i had to help it along but i finally got it. I've found that beer makes a lot of jobs more tolerable, this is not one of those jobs...be on your A game when you do this.

Yeah you can just pull up and push down on the interior door lock that sticks up next to the window.
