we're talking cars here dude. the ROI isn't money saved. it's the joy earned.

i'd never recommend anyone taking the risk on aftermarket hoods cuz who knows where they come from.

all i know is my example works and if doing it right is a stretch for you, then go ahead cut up your stock insulation, get at it with ebay search and replicate for others.

thankfully, i don't have to pinch pennies with my 4r or any of my other toys. i care about the results and care enough to give good advice. i only recommend going with genuine toyota parts here. the hood is too big of an exterior component to veer off the proven path.

do you have a trustworthy aftermarket hood vendor? insulation source or at a minimum instructions how to cut it up right? hood bulge kit that'll have the right bolts to mount to your aftermarket hood? if so, pls list it out instead of blowing smoke.

never heard of an aluminum hood for a 4th gen. unless a place just made one, they are all steel but the scoop is plastic. partstrain has em for 90bux & up, there was also a few places on ebay that used to have painted ones also http://www.ebay.com/itm/2006-2008-T...Parts_Accessories&hash=item439aa69b32&vxp=mtrhttp://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk....l1311.R1.TR3.TRC1&_nkw=4runner+hood&_sacat=0 i dont believe anyone has made a fiberglass hood for the 4th gen. yet either.
