03 4runner beginning to mod

Hello t4r nation, I'm rather new to the crew just looking for some insight opinions done a lot of reading so far and gotten a lot of useful information, Thank you all for your time.
03 Black 4runner v8
Currently:
Rola roof Rack
Plasti-Dipped wheels and front emblem
Removed Running boards
Front window tint and Sunstrip

To Come:
Daystar 3/2
285/75/16 or 265/75/16.. really want the 285's but have concerns and pricey!
Flowmaster super 44

the flowmaster will be more that a growl :). I went with 285/75r16's that I got installed for just under $700. I think its the best looking size with the DS kits. Search my threads for pics of tires, and I actually plasti dipped my spare to see what it looked like (we have the same truck except for color) Your paint looks great 4 being black and 8yrs old!
 
Nice, reminds me of mine a year ago when I just had the rack (before I found this forum and became addicted)

If you want the stuffed look and don't wanna shell out for 285s then you could just get 265/75R16s or 255/80R16s and do the FJC spring lift plus about an inch in front to level. I have 265/70R17 BFG ATs and they look pretty stuffed because I don't have a big lift, only ~1.85-2" in front and ~1/4" in the rear.

I really like the way they fill the wheel wells without looking like the vehicle is sitting above the tires

I went through and check yours out, very impressive. Those 285's are beast. Have you had to do any cutting for rubbing etc? Whats expected tread life on the 285's?

Haha well my addiction looks to be beginning, Where did you pick up the spring lift at?

I haven't done any trimming yet, and I have been driving it just fine. Its not my dd but I drive it on the weekends. I do need to move the front fender liners forward, and add wheel spacers. Very lil rubbing, just @ full lock, especially in reverse. Ive read posts on the tires I have going any where from 35k-50k, Im sure it depends how the driver uses them. I think I can get 45/50k outta mine, since it seas mainly hw.

I picked up my springs from FJcruiserforums.com I found a member in Columbia, SC with a set for $100 and my friend from Augusta, GA picked them up for me.

A lot of members get theirs for free. With no disrespect to the spacer lifts (as I also have a small spacer) I think the FJC springs w bilstein 5100s (or a small toytec spacer) are a much better alternative that daystar or cornfed. The ride is MUCH better with the FJ springs than stock 4r springs. Instead of bouncing several times like a boat after bumps it now bounces once or twice and smooths out.

I agree, I also have a full fj suspension in the garage, just haven't put them on yet, I got complete front struts for $25 (35k miles) and $12 for shipping, rear springs for free (30kmi), paid $11 for shipping, and a full set of shocks from a 4x4 shop that lifted a fj, the shocks only have 4100 miles on them, got them 4 free too. Got em all off FJforums.com, those guys are real good to us 4th gen fellas :) Already took the struts apart and replaced with the low miles shocks, just need to put it all on. I am sure the ride is better with 5100's but Ive got just as much lift if not more than the 5100's, so i will just wait and save $$ for a full 3" lift or ultimate 3" lift.

Good deal, the tires are pricey and I am college student that commutes often, would want something to last. Hopefully I can pic them up in the summer. What you think about the Plasti- Dip. I saw your spare, Do you have any intentions of pursuing that onto your ride?

Roughly how much would that setup cost me? Very interested in your pointing out the bouncing I have noticed my stock springs seem to bounce several times as you stated.

Yeah I hated the "boat feeling" after I got my 4r. The FJ springs can be had from free to ~$150 on the FJ cruiser forum or by checking craigslist, especially if you're near a big city. A ton of FJ guys lift their FJs and just have these laying around.

The spacers to make it level for a 4x4 or V8 are 1/2" toytec spacers (~1" lift) that are $60. I have a V6 2wd and used 1/4" spacers (1/2" lift) from toytec for $40. I later switched to bilstein 5100s because my shocks needed replacing, they have .85" (or 1.75" or 2.5") and I removed the toytec spacer.

Can you post some more pics of your rig from different angles? I am on the fence with one of these cargo racks.
 
As far as exhaust, I put a flowmaster 40 (I think?) on my '94 3.slow. Was cool for about the first 20 minutes, nice low rumble. Then I drove it for a week, and was completely OVER it. Can't imagine how annoying a 55 would be on a 4.7L, but if you're into noise, I guess you're into noise.... :D
