Thanks to "rentschl" on Edmunds:

For anyone that wants shop manuals...

Call: Toyota Service Publications: (800)622-2033

Item P/N Price

Vol. 1 (Diagnostic & Troubleshooting) RM1001U1 $103.13

Vol. 2 (Engine, Body & Chassis) RM1001U2 $103.13

Electrical Manual EWD514U $67.50

V6 Supplement RM1034 $8?.??

If you've got the V6 you need the "V6 Supplement" which is eighty something dollars more.

Interestingly, the owners manual (that covers both the V6 & V8) says nothing about the Electrical manual but does point out the V6 supplement (without mentioning that it's a V6 supplent only).

Thai,
Thanks for the 411.
.
The manuals run $139.99 each for the '04 models and the electrical is $80. All are Factory Toyota shop manuals. Since I'm in CA I should be recieving it in two or so weeks mailed to my house. (free)
.
The '03 manual pricing you noted is still current. God only knows why its cheaper.
.
Oh Well.

It could be because the 04 manuals INCLUDE the v6 information. There is no v6 supplement in 04. There ARE however tranmission and transaxle supplements (if you really plan to get hardcore into your drive train).

BTW, the 04 manuals have different part numbers. The first 3 and what looks like the 03 version of the 4th were on the CD I purchased from ebay.

RM1059U1 Vol 1 Repair Manual (Diagnostics)
RM1059U2 Vol 2 Repair Manual (Disassembly / Assembly)
EWD552U Wiring
NCF257U New Car Features (compares to previous 4runners)

RM998U A340E, A340F Automatic Transmission
RM999U A750E, A750F Automatic Transaxle

Why doesn't Chiltons, or one of the others, do manuals for us?

Or are the Toyota manuals that much better to warrant the extra $$$.

They are VASTLY better than any Chilton manual. Worth the money? That's another question that depends largely on what you pay. $400+ from a dealer or $25 for the CD on ebay.

You guys do know that you can buy the toyota manuals online for like $100 for both vol 1 and 2 right?

These are legit and I believe they have gone up in price recently but still cheaper than the stealer price!

I already have the 04 manuals on CD (Vol 1, Vol 2, Wiring Manual, New Car Features). They seem 'legit' enough for me.

Thanks Rando...I'll be happy with the CD. That way you can even print out a page or two and take them to the garage, write on them, get them covered with grease, and then toss em. :)

Where did you get yours online...or should I just do a search?

Thanks.

I just paid the $10 for 24 hours of access to the factory manuals here:

http://techinfo.toyota.com/

It took about 4 hours to download and save every pdf file but it was well worth it.

I have logged into the website today with a 1-day access, but I can't find the PDF's on the site. Only information I turn up is in the form of webpages, which would take forever to save.

Can you please tell me where you clicked to get to the PDF pages?

Thanks

I was looking for the Repair Manual in PDF form for my new 2008 Sport Edition 4Runner.

I just figured out that for 2006 or later models, Toyota's website does not offer PDF's of the manual

Link: http://techinfo.toyota.com

Only earlier models of Toyota Vehicles will be able to be downloaded via PDF files from this website.

The newer models only have HTML type pages that popup to reveal the information. This keeps you from easily downloading all the information in one shot, so you don't have to pay a subscription fee to the website.

This might change however, as to be able to view the information on this website, you need Adobe SVG Viewer plugin, which is no longer being supported by Adobe starting in 2009.

What a pain though, as I would like to have the entire PDF Repair Manual without paying for the full price. It's only $10/day to access this tech info website.
