'03 CAI question

I am looking to help a friend put in a CAI on his '03 4Runner. I have the Volant in my Xterra and love it, along w/ the AMSOIL dry-filter. I found the correct size Volant for him but not sure on the AMSOIL filter size. Can someone post up either the AMSOIL size (if you have it) or the stock air filter siz so I can go from there. Thanks!

BTW, your friend's 2003 4runner is a 4th gen 4runner, not a 3rd gen. I will move your post over to the appropriate section.

Well I got his Volant CAI in as well as the AMSOIL dry-filter replacement. He is on his way over now to get this thing installed. We'll see how she goes...

Well that didn't work; we ordered the 3.4L model and he has the 4.0L. And I'm now looking for this model but it seems like Volant doesn't offer one for the 4.0L. Any advice? I want to stick w/ the closed-box but does any other cos. make decent CAI's?

i think they might make one for the 4.0 taco, maybe it will fit the 4.0 4runner. worth a call? volant does make a DRY filter (powercore) now also.

just saw that someone has tried the taco model & the tube fit but the box sat too high. i dont know what the problem was , closing the hood maybe. but i hear the new box for the FJ 4.0 sits lower, so it might work. or try a trd instead.

So, does anyone have a closed box CAI on their '03 4.0L 4Runner?! Or does anyone else even have a 4.0L in their '03?!
