03' have star safty system

I am picking up a used 2003 sr5 4runner. Does the 2003 have the star safty system? what are the differance from the 2003 newer years? I would think not too much

Although Toyota didn't come out with the Star Safety System name until after the 2003 model, all 2003 4Runners have the features that compose the Star Safety System. So yes, it does have STAR, there just wasn't a special name for it in 2003.

Star Safety System is made up of Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS with electronic brake force distribution, and brake assist.

in 03 they did not have the roll-sensing ability for the curtain air bags. Note in later years a dash button called "RDSS" I think.

Other then that, I believe the systems are identical.
