03 V6 tranny ?

Auburn 4Runner

When I am going slow (about 10 mph or slower) and get back in the gas the gear doesn't catch until almost 1400 rpm (about 700 or so at 10 mph). Any reason why it may be doing that? Anybody else having this problem? Thanks in advance.

I think mine does something similar, but always assumed it was that the transmission was in second gear and hadn't downshifted to first. Tends to happen when first started and going around a corner near the house.

Mine does that too. Very frustrating driving through parking lots, stop/go, under 10mph, the engine races and then the tranny kicks into gear, almost like the tranny is hunting for the right gear.

slow tranny shifting between 1st and 2nd. You will find that on other Toyotas and Lexus.

My '02 Sport w/4spd did the same thing.

Must be a Toyota thing. Kind of embarrassing when you go to pull away and your engine races and nothing happens.

Mine does this same thing, so does my Corolla. I think it's just a "characteristic" of the trans. I just lean into the pedal slowly, helps a little.

Transmission.

My wives `89 Cressida did the same thing. If the happens on icey conditions it made for a handful, especially with limited slip.;):
My Runner is a 5spd.
