We just purchased an 03' Limited V8, yadda yadda yadda. Last night, I put it into "D" and the little display told me I was in "4". After driving for a while, I realized I was in "4" due to the engine braking. I stopped and shifted down through the gears. Interestingly, the tranny wouldnt shift into "2", it would just go straight into "L". Anyone had this problem? What would cause it? Thanks in advance.

I suddenly started having this same issue. Saturday during the day was fine. Went out Saturday night and it will not go into OD. In fact the indicator goes straight from PRN to 4; it bypasses 5 entirely. Transmission is actually in 4 though. Also when I shift below 4 it drops all the way to L instead. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Francesco.

The shifter just moves an electrical switch. If you're like 90% of us that electrical switch has probably been bathed in Coke, Coffee, Water etc thanks to the stellar cup-holders. Add to that some Armour-all and I would be looking at that switch first.
