04 4runner 2WD V6 (4 speed) - How many Qts r needed for Trans oil drain/refill?

Hi everyone, I want to do a quick 'drain and refill' of my transmission fluid on my 2004 4Runner 2WD V6 (4 speed). This transmission has a dipstick and i have seen enough videos/help to do this on my own. The V6 seems to be easier than the V8. I don't want to change the transmission filter yet since i don't tow with this car and will tackle this task later on.

I intend to only do a quick drain/refill only but i am not sure how many quarts of the Toyota Type 4 Transmission oil i should be buying. How many quarts should I buy from the stealer to do this task?

The manual says 2.1 quart for drain and refill (it is way more than that from what I can tell). I am not sure if it is correct so I would like to validate from those who has done it. These type 4 oil cost $7.50 per quart in my local dealers here so I want to buy only what I need.

Mine is 05 so not dipstick , but guys that have done it on their's say 4 maybe 5 tops , should be some posts on it if do quik search !

Well forgot this , I had dealership do flush not really a flush just hooks it up to a machine that pulls all out they did 17 qts . But simple drain & fill not that .

So to answer my own question, actual drain and refill calls for about 5 quarts (instead of 2.1 as listed in the manual). So I will pick up 6 quarts just in case. Thanks.

I lift the front as high as the jack will take it to drain the most out of it. I always get less than 5 qts. (cold). I do this once per year (~30,000 KM / 19,000 miles) to keep my fluid somewhat fresh.

4QTs and 300ml for my '04 V6. I got the Toyota Type T-IV ATF fluid from local CarQuest for $5.69/qt. Local Toyota dealer sells the same fluid at $8.50/qt.
