I have been having a starting issue for about a month now..from time to time it will not start on its own some days it would be fine and start right up other days it has to be jumped and it gradually got worse to were it has to be jumped with a 950 CA jump it and it fires every time. took battery to be checked 3 times finally today they said it was bad and gave me a new one. got home put it in fired up 1 time and thats it same thing u can jump it but it will not start on its own. Everything else is working headlights, ect. I have noticed that the temperature gauge doesn't read anything after it has run awhile and warmed up it just reads cold but it should be hot and also when I try to start it the back light for the climate control dims out but thats the only light that dims.....If anyone can give me any ideas on how to get this thing to start on its own I would appreciate it.

Bad alternator? A bad diode or two may explain some of your issues as would bad grounds. I test the alternators and loosen then re-snug underhood ground wires.

alternator has been checked and it is working properly...I thought about the ground, i see where 1 ground wire is right next to the battery but another wire goes under the motor do u know where that wire ends at?

it wasn't the ground it was a fuse that was testing good but it had cracked at the bottom and rusted bad on 1 side.

if anyone is interested the grounds r actually pretty easy to find, on the right side of the block close to the tranny, frame under the battery and the obvious next to the battery
