Have a 04 v6 automatic with 126,000 miles that recently started surging while traveling down the road, mainly between 50-60 mph. Tested it in each gear and can be felt in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Last week I had the plugs changed because it had a miss while warmimg up and the check engine light came on along with the vsc trac and vsc off lights. reading some old threads, i learned about clearing these lights thru unhooking the battery for a while which worked. New plugs cleared the miss but now have the trans surging issue. Any advice as to the cause of the surging? I read about the issues with the HVAC but the surg is present with everything turned off. HELP:thanks:

How many miles since you disconnected the battery. When you did that you reset the learned values for the trans. Should relearn on it's own. If it's keeps doing this after 100 miles try disconnecting it again. And clean your throttle plate too.

Its been over 100 miles since the disconnect. Probably more like 150. I will try it again tomorrow. Where is the throttle plate and how do you clean it?

It's what the intake pipe is attached to on the top front of the motor. Unscrew the clamp, pull the hose off and spray the plate with some intake/ throttle body cleaner from any parts store.
