04 Driver power door lock issue.

The other day I grab the Door handle at exactly the same time I either turn the key to off or shut down the engine.(Not Sure Which) Either way the door lock tried to unlock while I tried to open it and it jammed. The door would not open with the handle or unlock with the unlock button. I pushed the lock with my thumb to unlock it. It seem like a little more force then it should take but I did not think much of it at the time because I was able to open the door then.

Well latter that day I tried to lock it with the remote for the night and got no confirmation beep. I hit the unlock on the remote and it beeps. Hit the lock again, no beep. I watched the action from inside the vehicle and it was not locking or unlocking with the remote. I tried with the buttons on the door. same result, no lock or unlock for the drivers door. All other doors work with the remote or buttons on the door. I can lock it by hand and then push the lock on the remote and get the beep the first time. so the lock sensor in the door knows it is locked or unlocked.

I can only guess I broke something in the door or something popped loose. I hope it is the latter of the 2. Latter the same day when I opened the door from the outside I thought the action sounded different.

Does anyone have instructions to remove the door panel and or repair instructions for the power door locks? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hey WAIT..............! Before you go taking apart your truck's door assembly why don't you just try to reset the unlock/lock memory. A lot of simple electronic issues (radio, sunroof, door locks, etc.) can be reset by removing your negative battery cable for about 10-15 mins. This will reset or erase the faulty code in the truck's ECU (electronic computer unit) memory. This will allow the ECU to restore the factory original setting back. You can then use you owner's manual to set the doors to lock when moving out of park, unlock when returning to park, lock when the vehicle speed reaching ???, or whatever.

REMEMBER............ just remove the negative cable from your battery and wait 10-15 mins. I'd be willing to bet you an oil change that this will unhang the system and allow you to unlock/relock your doors as before! Give it a try first and good luck.

Certainly worth a try before taking it in, but remember that NCSCOTT said that the outdoor handle doesn't feel the same as before. Not sure that the memory would cause that to happen.

If you do the reset, you may have to reinitialize the drivers window, back window, and sunroof. Not a big deal to do, but something you won't want to forget.
