04 Factory Amp replacement

My amp stopped working and I am not able to find a direct replacement. I can get a new sub/amp assembly PN: 86150-0W040 but at an outrageous cost for what you get. I have found a PN:86280-0W240 which is just the amp. What is in there now is the 86280-0W150. Will the 240 work in replacement of the 150?

I'm going right ahead and admitting I don't know much about this, but go ahead and try it, of it doesn't work take it back (if possible). Is t your runner equipped with the JBL? B/c that's a big deal (totally different).

So some more info:

I do have the JBL with RDS. The HU has the 6disc changer/cassette. It is the factory amp that is bad. I dont want to rewire everything which is why I'd like to keep it factory. I just don't know if this other amp will power the entire system. From reading other post it seems often changing the amp will change which speakers are powered.

I hear ya. I have the SAME set up. As a matter of fact, I'm 5 min away from removing it and installing a factory NAV, BUT i know that some day the amp may die and I am going to have to deal with that (by getting the same amp).

This is interesting to see if another amp (factory of course) will work. The only other thing I can say is make sure the other amp is also a JBL.

Can anyone else chime on??

Found this for ya:

Last time a member tried getting that plug the dealership only sold it in an entire package... something called a 'theft recovery' package for harness's that had been cut. But if you can get your hands on them then that would be awesome.

The amp's that will work for are is any amp after a 2005. The two amps that have the voice out I have here are:

Seqouia: 86280-0C050
Tundra: 86280-0C070

My current 4Runner amp which is an 06 amp I don't remember (sorry!) It's in the car and I'd have to remove my panel, etc. I plan to remove that panel here in a few weeks so I'll get it for you when I rip it open. But both those amps above do not have a center channel so it would be ideal for your current setup.

Oh, btw, I've seen some amps on ebay recently from 4runner's that have this amp 86280-0W150. This DOES NOT have the voice outs that you need.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

What I read from this, it will work, but it just doesn't have a voice-outs for IF you have/want the factory NAVI, which you dont have. hope this helps!

Here's the thread:

Thank you for doing some research on that. i think that I am going to go ahead and try it out and see what happens. Ill let you know what I find.

Be careful dude... I tried the same thing and damaged the speakers in my car. I sent the original amp to a company called United Radio for repair (successfully!), and sold the other amp on ebay to get money for replacement speakers. Just keep the volume low with that other amp and don't ignore your speakers if they start to crackle...
