04 HU install question

I just installed the ash tray in my center console, and was surprised at how easy it was. I happened to have one of these:

And it turns out to be an excellent tool for prying things loose. No scratches, no drama.

So when I go to do this to the center of my dash, do I need to remove the sides of the center console and the trim under the steering wheel?

FYI, I got both the Metra and American International kits.

The Metra plastic has a much nicer finish to it (the visible part).

I agree. Go with the Metra and you can't go wrong. I'm speaking from personal experience with both companies as well.
