04 lift/tire question

Hopefully I dont get bashed, but I did a search on 275-70-17 tires and didnt see anything.

New to the board. Last week I put some Michelin LTX A/T2 265-70-17's on my truck.

I'm thinking about leveling/lifting...probably the 2.5/1.5 Daystar Kit and am now in a bind on whether or not I want to go a little bigger on the tire. I have a 2 week window to trade out the tires at no penelty and am kind of in a time crunch. (Going to talk to the guy about the lift today).

I like the BFG AT KO 275-70-17. Will these guys fit ok without any trimming?

If so what do you guys recommend doing to make the truck look meaner? I do off road a bit...few times a month, but nothing major at all.

Not sure if they are available in that size, but take a loot at Goodyear Duratrac's, many seem to like them better than the BFG's (better on the street and as good off road).

Yeah you have quite a few options. The DS 2.5/1.5 lift is quite popular here and you can go with a 265/70/17 or a 275/70/17. I don't think there are many options in the 275/70/17 but the BFG TA KO. As far as 265/70 you have a ton of options. You can go with a GY Silent Armor, Firestone Destination, Nitto TG, BFG TA KO or for a couple of more aggressive tires you have the GY Duratrac, Kelly Safari TSR. I haven't seen many guys here running the 275/70. Most people either run the 265/70 or go with a 285/70.

check out the kelly tsr in my signature. The only thing is the come in a limited number of sizes, but are very quiet for an AT even with as agressive as they are.

I just put a set of Cooper S/T MAXX on a few weeks ago and I'm really impressed with these tires. Pretty aggressive looking for a AT, in fact pretty much a true hybrid between MT/AT in my opinion. Not loud and they should be very durable offroad with the ArmorTek3 sidewall. I'm running 265/70/17 by the way.

I'm running a 3/2 Cornfed lift on my 05 with 285/70/17 Kelly Safaris. I love the Safari's; however, i had to perform some trimming on my front fenders and remove the mud flaps. I still rub if I am turning the tires and hit a bump. I may eliminate the problem with a 1" body-lift, but I haven't quite decided yet. You should be good to go with the 275/70/17 without any trimming.

I put a 3" Toytec Ultimate lift, Rims, Grill inserts, Bull Bar and the BFG's on my 2004 V8 to give it a beefier-unique look. Running a K&N CAI and Magnaflow Cat-Back with PNP UniChip. Sweeeet set up !!

There's definitely a short break in period for them, as they were pretty squirrely the first time I took them on the freeway. But now they are surprisingly pretty smooth for some MTR's. Expect a little extra noise at higher speeds, but nothing a radio can't fix.

I'm not sure exactly what my mpg loss was with tires alone, but after lift and all I'm looking at around 2mpg loss mixed driving. At the worst of times 3mpg loss if there's stop and go traffic. Tires are pretty heavy...
