04 oil change

Alright, this will be my first time changing the oil in the gf's 4runner. I normaly change the oil in my jeep. Well I was lookin at it today and reading information on this forum.

Question:
After reading some stuff, people say the oil filter is on the side in the fender area. But when I looked it was right in front of me in a bowl type thing. Am I correct in assuming that I'm right?

I have a 2005 4Runner SR-5 with the V-6. My oil filter is also on the driver's side and sits atop the "bowl" thing. Basically, it looks something like this:

Now, the V-8 engines have the filter somewhere else. Maybe that is what you have on your mind, sir. Also, I bet Toyota did it differently in the older vehicles.

The oil change on my V6 is the easiest one I've ever done on any vehicle, especially with the Fram drain valve. Thank you, Toyota.

Dude! You are scaring me. I never noticed that before. This is kind of like the face of Jesus appearing on a slice of toast, huh?

That "happy face" is nothing more than dirt or oil that had collected there the last time I changed it.

Wow, I wish my oil filter was there. My filter is hard to get to and remove.
