04 or 05?

Hey everyone, new to the forum and considering purchasing a used 04 or 05 4runner 4WD.

I'm currently leasing an 05 Xterra (a mistake which I won't make again after its up in a few months). I need something to get me through another two or so years of college and thought that a higher mileage (60-100K) 4Runner would definitely fit the bill. Are there any major differences between these model years? Other considerations?

Biggest change was from 04 to 05 when the V8 got vvti and the V6 got a 5speed (instead of 4). Otherwise in 06 there were a few cosmetic changes like grille, headlights, led tail lights, rounded wheel wells and fenders that flare out further, and some other little bits.

WBSurf = Wrightsville Beach Surf? Going to UNC-Wonderful? Great school amigo! I graduated there in 01' with a finance degree. Best decision I've ever made. Lived there for 8+ years and try to get back whenever my hectic life will allow. Know that place like the back of my hand. Infact, I use to rent a house behind campus at 227 N. Wallace Ave. I still swing by there on my way out of town to relive some old memories...of what I can remember : They still have those old concrete blocks out by the mailbox, which I put there in 98' after having the mailbox run over for the um-teenth time by drunks at the fraternity house going to fast on that S curve. Makes me laugh, even to this day...

05' would be my suggestion for the reasons already mentioned. But you really can't go wrong eitherway.

NC211, unfortunately I go to UNC chapel hill, so I only get to enjoy the port city on the weekends and during the summer. But I do know the area you are talking about and will look for the cement blocks the next time I'm in the vicinity.

What a small world...my office is in Chapel Hill, in Meadowmont. I commute everyday from Apex via the back roads around 751. Great place! What's even a smaller world, I started my college track in 92' at Kansas, but left in 95 to Wilmington and spent a few years running around the movie studio before returning. Even to this day when I see ole' Roy on TV, I have to remind myself "I ain't in Kansas anymore".
