'04 RIGHT SIDE steering wheel controls

Before I start:
I have a 2004 Sport 4runner

I was checking out Partznet and saw they sell the right side steering wheel controls that are supposed to be for cruise control. Does anyone know if there is a way to install those controls on the wheel and then program them with a PAC interface or something along those lines to work a DVD player? I was told by a few installers that the steering wheel stock buttons needed to hook up to toyota's main electrical frame or something like that. I think it would be cool to get this to work. Obviously I already have the left controls.
Thanks.

Do you mean the buttons that are similar to the radio controls on the left? I believe those are for bluetooth place a call, hang up, and voice commands for the nav. Someone else may be able to clarfy that.

I found another thread on here where someone bought the right side controls for a Land Cruiser because they matched, and they weren't available for the 4R. But now that the '06 4Runners have the nav with bluetooth option, they should be available as a 4Runner part. However the partznet site doesn't allow you to select an '06 4Runner for parts, only the '05. Also I think you need another part (ribbon cable) to connect to the other buttons.

On partznet it shows the right side buttons to be for cruise control on the '04.

What #5 is pointing to actually looks like the LEFT side buttons.

All I know is that on my steering wheel, the cruise control is a lever on the right hand side of the wheel. The buttons on the left are for radio controls, and the buttons on the right are for voice nav and bluetooth. Since I don't have the nav system, I just have blanks where those buttons would go. See the pic below. I pointed out the cruise control with a red arrow.

Here is what the steering wheel looks like with the buttons on the right. The top one is used to hang up/pick up a cell phone call and the bottom one is used for voice nav. The middle blank should have a button to toggle through MPG, average speed etc that the 4Runner doesn't have. The RX400h, Highlander Hybrid, and Camry XLE have that button.

It would be nice to be able to use those right-side buttons to control other features of an aftermarket headunit via an existing PAC SWI unit. A steering wheel-mounted button for next/prev folder (for MP3 discs) and mute would rock. I could always add an aftermarket steering-wheel control but I like the way the factory buttons are integrated.

I know. My wheel is just like yours. I want the right side like MARK86 has but I want to hook it up to do more Ipod or video functions like play, rewind, pause, etc..... I saw some posts about the right side buttons but does anyone know if there is a way to integrate a PAC type module directly to the buttons?

Do you know if the Rx400h, etc buttons physical fit on the 4runner (same steering wheel?). If so then a custom wiring setup could be done to make these buttons do other functions.

Why don't we have that button!! That sure would be eaiser then trying to push a button on the dashboard.

The RX400h has a 3 spoke wheel so the buttons are shaped differently. A Camry steering wheel more than likely be an exact fit. Come to think of it, the RX's display button doesn't toggle. I think the one on the Camry XLE does toggle. Can anybody confirm that for me?

cdoyle, the "display" button doesn't reset the trip meter on the dash. You still have that needle to push. On the RX400h, that button cycles through a battery power meter, average MPG, average speed, current MPG, and temperature. It is sort of like the trip computer on the 4Runner except the RX displays that info below the speedometer.

It's still cool, and wish ours had it :)

Here's the part numbers for the 2006 right hand side buttons:

84244-35030-bo $59.83 for the buttons
84204-58010 $26.68 for the ribbon

still waiting for the reply whether or not the buttons on this are orange or not. they should be since it's the 2006 4Runner and not the 05 land cruiser like the other posts. Maybe someone here with and 06 can tell us if their volume controls have orange or green LEDs.

I just tried to order these parts:
84244-35030-bo $59.83 for the buttons
84204-58010 $26.68 for the ribbon

Back-order from Japan, could take 6-8 weeks..

-Anyone know where I can get these sooner?

The buttons light up orange. They are exactly the same color as the ones in my 2005.
