I am taking my GF to look at a 04 4runner sport, 4.0 auto 4wd. 132k
Anything I should know about or look for on this generation runner?

A couple basics... Front calipers, tend to freeze up and need replacing $$$. If it's a private party ask about diff and transfer case gear oil changes.

V6 so no timing belt.... :thumb3:

Kind of used to the calipers freezing up on Toyota's. LOL. Just did a friends Tundra Sunday.
I forgot to also ask what is the MPG on it?
It's at a Dealers so maybe I can get them to do all the fluids if they want to sell it.

Sounds like you are looking at something very close to mine. 134k and still loving it!

I will be all over this tomorrow from top to bottom. I got to, my Gf travels for work and can't be breaking down like she is with the POS 05 Escape she has now. Damn thing only has 71k on it and died 3 times in as many months. I HATE FORDS. LOL

Check out the front inner and outer CV boots. Make sure they are dry and not cracked, torn or wet/leaking.
When shopping for my 4runner this past summer 2 of 3 I looked at needed their CV boots and axles replaced.
I'd also ask the dealer for a listing of all the maintenance they performed on the vehicle when they received it. Unknown to the dealer I was working with his shop had put on all new brakes according to shop maintenance ticket he gave me.

I'm about to hit 230k on my '04 Sport 4WD. I've had to replace the calipers, axle boots, catalytic converter, rear bearings, passenger side front axle. All repairs have happened after 200k miles. Only thing that has been expensive was the rear bearings which hit me for about $1200. I never changed the rear differential oil before they went bad and wonder if I would have saved them if I would have. The truck still uses no oil and I consider it a great vehicle.
 
She bought it Friday afternoon and LOVES it. Been a busy weekend so haven't really gone thru much on it yet but will be soon. I drove it lastnight and this am in blizzard weather and it drove and handled super.
Now I'm jealous cause her's is newer and nicer then my 96. LOL
J/K I like my 96.
Anyways I will post up when I can pics etc.
