Hey everyone!
About two months ago I bought a 2004 SR5 V8 with 175,000 miles (80-90% highway; auto 5 speed? or 4 spd w/OD?...noob question is there a difference? :noidea: )) . Only 2 previous owners, both of whom drove it fairly conservative because they lived in big cities and didn't really have much inclination to go offroading. I've got service records since the first owner, and routine maintenance has been pretty consistent. I've put about 3,000 miles on it now and it's been great. Took it on a 1,200 mile roadtrip the third day I had it and it drove like a 95% brand new 4runner.
Just the other day though I started noticing that, under heavy acceleration--even foot to the floor--it doesn't have the same "get up" and short shifts rather than letting the engine wind. For example, a few days ago it would rev out to the 5,000rpm redline at full-throttle, but now it's shifting by 4,000rpm, still under full throttle.
Any ideas on what could be going on here? I don't know for sure if it's had a trans flush done, could that be the issue? I also notice the slight "clunk" from the rear-end maybe needing some grease?
I would really appreciate any sort of help from all you T4R veterans!
