'04 SR5 Heated Side View Mirror

The movers busted off my driver's side side mirror on my '04 SR5 4Runner when they were pulling it off the ship. I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to a heated side mirror. I couldn't tell for certain that the wiring was there based on my searches of the threads but since the movers were paying for the mirror and, it looked like it would work, I decided to upgrade,

One thing I didn't look too hard for was a color matched mirror. I only planned on replacing the one side so I went with the 'black' heated mirror Toyota part number 87940-35630-C0. I got it from partznet (Conicelli for $233.84). The problem with this plan is that the black is not the dull black of the SR5 mirrors but rather the high gloss black of a black 4Runner. I'll either replace the other side or just spray paint it high gloss black so it looks the same. Probably the latter right now.

This is a 20 minute project. The 4Runner is pre-wired for heated side view mirrors. Just pull the door panel off, remove the three 10mm nuts, unplug the old mirror, swap and reassemble.

I took some pictures just because you have to have pictures but probably not really needed. This is super easy.

Photo 2 shows the connectors unplugged. Note all the extra wires on the factory side. That's the heat and yes, I have a heated mirror now

Put a couple of good coatings of wax on the passenger side mirror and buff it with a microfiber cloth between coats. My SR5 mirrors are glossy black when I do this. This works for the roof rack as well.

how do you control the heated mirror? did you get a switch too for the heated mirror?

Yep. I tested it by putting on the defroster. You can feel the heat.
