04' v6 4runner Overheating Issues

looks like im back with some slow overheating issues, the ambient temp was over 90 degrees today and stop and go traffic around town while the ac was blasting the temp gauge started slowly climbing. the temps would slowly raise up to about 238 degrees before the light would turn green and with some gas the gauge would drop back down, did this at pretty much every light, very slow progression until i stick the truck in neutral and rev the engine to 1500rpm and it would drop again. We just got back from a 600 mile road trip to the central coast and the temps were in the high 80/90s just like at home and no issues at all with the temp gauge. When i turn off the A/c it would settle down but then slowly rise again.

Last year around october i did the coolant flush and seemed to be fixed, i also replaced the termostat with a factory unit and the radiator cap also.

the radiator is about 8 years old with about 70K miles on it so maybe i should swap it out? (it was a aftermarket unit)

The fan clutch is original (190k miles)

the water pump has about 70k miles on it also with about 7 years of age.

Any one have any ideas?

It sounds like your fan clutch is not moving enough air when you are at low rpms. If it were my truck I would change that anyways due to its age.

i think i will swap that out first and see how it goes

Assuming your coolant is full and cap is good, I would check your fan clutch. Likely not moving enough air when stationery
