04 v8 3rd gear has whine

I have a 04 v8 and i notice awhine in third gear when i accelerate at about half throtle or so. I think it has always don it anyone else ever notice this. Thats with the radio of i don't realy notice it with the radio on. It has 20000 miles on it.

yep I have the same problem 04 and my wife has one 03 and same problem the dealer told us normal operating noise my response was normal for what? So I figure when it has a problem then bring it back because they don't want to hear it I even called Toyota which was no help.

You can take it to the dealer, see what they say.


When you are near the end of the power train warranty (5/60), have the problem documented at the Toyota dealer again, in detail.

If it fails after the warranty (hopefully it never will), having the problem documented can still get is fixed under warranty.

yep mine is documented they said that is all they could do. It is still a really good idea just in case.
