'04 V8 Supercharger?

I hear that the V8 has some rather skimpy rods when it comes to forced induction. However, it would make a torque monster fully built. Iron blocks like boost.

TRD S/C's appear from time to time on ebay complete/no complete. At this point you are most concerned with the hardware as unichip has come out with a great solution that gets raves over at the tundra forum. Just need the hardware
 
yeah i found the trd super chargers to be un available due to rod issues in the motor durring forced inductions i do know that some guys are taking our
V8 engines and putting them in supras after making them look like this!!! i think theres a company that'll build this set up for you for like 8k so if you got deep pockets have at it lol.

What kind of numbers do those put out?



To the OP, just slap a turbo on it.
 
From what I have read the rod issues are with the US built motors, not our Japan built. We have forged connecting rods whereas the US built motors had cast connecting rods. I could be completely wrong this is just what I have heard, I haven't taken this engine apart yet.
 
Last time I saw a 2UZ TRD Supercharger pop up on EBay, the guy was asking $10K for it... Good luck buddy.

It was new in box and I think it was actually for an LC. I think for that price, yeah, I'll just go for that twin turbo one above.

This is true... on another forum (lextreme I think) someone did an actual rod comparison and found the US built motors used the inferior cast rods, whereas the Japan built ones used forged rods.

This was an inital concern of mine but I've had my S/C on for over 40K miles and I haven't had a single problem -knock on wood- From my research it isn't that the motors can't handle the HP from the charger but more the fact that people dont' stop tinkering with them and raising boost.

Not an issue on the Japanese built 2UZ's found in the LC and 4Runner. The Tundra, and Sequoias were notorious for it because the internals(rods) are not forged.

EDIT: It's already been noted.

FWIW The 2UZ is a bored out 1UZ block and there is a confirmed 2700HP 1UZ in Japan on the stock block to give you an idea of the build quality of these things.

yall are making my mouth water lol I've been wanting to build up power in my V8 since i bought it they just dont list out performance parts for it specifically and easily found. would it be to hard to make a sticky thread just for the V8's and engine performance mods listing products and sources with product reviews I'd certainly be interested in seeing what kinda power i can get out of this ol 4.7L

I had no desire to do any engine mods to either one of those, especially the Jeep, no sense in dumping a ton of money into something to maybe make it adequate. Now that I'm driving something that has a decent amount of power I find myself wanting more!

This is incorrect, the 2UZ-FE; unlike the 1UZ-FE & 3UZ-FE utilizes a cast iron block, while the other two use an alloy with sleeves. The 2UZ-FE was designed for low torque, high load applications such as the Land Cruiser and Tundra. It was specifically designed first and foremost as a low rpm band, low end torque truck engine, unlike the other two engines which are found only in Toyota's cars.

If the motor is fully built with good parts and with a quality port on the heads. 8K is a steal. I have a 1.6L (turbo) fully built from pan to cover (me doing a good bit of the build) and I have right at 10K in the longblock. 8k to include snails, I/E manifolds, waste gates.. not a bad deal imo.
