04 V8 TRD Supercharger

Thinking about getting a TRD supercharger for the runner. Want some input from yall? And/Or thinking about adding a throttle body spacer and headers. Thanks

I dont think you can get the TRD one anymore. From what I understand there were some issues, and the superchargers were pulled after toyota bought TRD.

At least two dealers told me this - I had one on order, then chickened out, and then said what the hell. When it came to pay for the deposit to actually get one in, this was the story I got. I think there are a lot of after market ones, but TRD is the one Toyota continued the warranty on

I thought TRD was the performance division of Toyota. Just like Mugen/Honda, STI/Subaru, Ralliart/Mitsu... So Toyota always owned TRD right?

The TRD supercharger was pulled off the shelves for the V8 around mid 2004. No real reason was given. Then in 2005 the new V8s came with VVTI equipped. Maybe they pulled the supercharger because it wouldn't work with the new V8. You can still find some shops selling them so maybe a dealership will install it and you can keep your warranty on your truck as well as the supercharger itself.

I dont know enough about it, all I know is that two dealers told me a similar story. They pulled the superchargers. If you can get them, it's great! There are some people on this board that have them and love them.

I also saw several on ebay and other places on the web for sale still...

If I were in the market for one though I'd act quickly. They are not listed on the official TRD site.

You can still get them but you aren't supposed to put them on an '04. Toyota changed something in the way the engine is set up from the '03 and it can ruin the engine. Thats while the pulled them from TRD. If you look on Edge's link it only says '03 as do most E-bay listings.
