(just a reminder to anyone else with a 05-09 V8. The factory headers WILL FAIL eventually. Toyota's manifold design was very poor and the factory headers will end up cracking. They seems to last maybe 10 years before this happens. Also keep in mind that Toyota charges, $1,500 for factory headers! These are over half that, and have a lifetime warranty, add 30hp, 30 ft lbs of torque and better gas mileage!)

I had always thought that my be a solution. Also I don't think the smog places are that strict. As long as it puts out the right numbers I don't think they would hassle me.

#1, for anyone in California, Doug Thorley, or me, or anyone cannot ship these to CA because not carb legal. BUT, we can ship to a nearby state or a state you have a friend/relative in, etc. and you can bring them back to CA and install them. I can even ship to a mailboxes or UPS store in a bordering state. This is only for people in california and doesn't effect anyone else. Ca has gotten real strick and knows when they are shipped to ca and will give out fines to any companies shipping to CA. It's been done, and one reseller had to pay 500k for doing it!

Someone else did it but for the life of me I can't remember who. Basically a shop will pull out your stock manifolds, cut them in front of the catalytic converter, then weld the cats to the header. Does not change smog output in the slightest as only the cat does that part. You'll be golden, and I doubt they would even know.

I am going to crawl around and up into my 4runner tonight. I am curious how this all goes together.

Any shop that does exhausts can weld and should be able to do this. It is very tight quarters and as such makes it much harder of a job plus the added bonus of potential bolts shearing off in the heads, that's why I'm letting a shop do it. If you have basic welding skills, you could do it. Time to install for a shop with good mechanical skills that does installs like this, maybe 5-6 hours, depends on shop, could vary, and if it's just you with basic skills much more time.

Is there anyway you can include the 3rd gens V6 3.4 with and without EGR on this group buy? I'm specifically looking for the THY-507-C without EGR.
