05-09 4.7L Doug Thorley Headers, group buy

I've gotta say guys, the headers are the single best mod I've done on my 4runner to date! Woke that thing up like you wouldn't believe!! Toyota really restricts their exhausts, and the quality of these blows away stock by a fair margin. If you're on the fence, DO IT!

Alright, I'm the latest to finally pull the trigger. I've been staring at these things since they came out. Got them from Jason Burtman with Burtman Industries. As we all know, he is awesome to work with. As I'm in Canada, he went above and beyond to try to make things easier more cost effective.

I'm super excited and looking at the other stuff I should do at the same time. Probably going to replace two cats with high flows (Jason has these too and I'll likely end up grabbing them from him too). Hopefully will have a shop do a custom Y like the URD one and remove the last two cats.

Hoping to feel a real difference in power with all that done.

I've been looking at these things forever! Also in Canada. What did they cost you shipped in CAD $...if you don't mind me asking.

Also have 1 or 4 Cats going bad. Might also be the way to go for me.

Yea, 30 hp/30+ torque it's insane. I forget who it was on here, had lift and big tires and was getting 2-3 more MPG too!

I am in the process of putting together a bolt in kit for the DT headers and was curious if any of the folks on this thread have their cracked or old factory manifolds (05-09) that they would part with so that I can put together a jig and fab some up. This is what I'm doing too! I don't have a set for you yet (I work slow) but probably in another month I'll have two sets and the jigs to send out to others in the same boat.

Sweet! Yeah I really hate to see the DIY guys get bagged by shops for 8-9 hours for 100/hr to put these in. If you have a decent set of tools and a weekend (grab a shop manual) and save yourself 900$ to put towards your timing belt job. Once I get the first set done, Ill post some pictures =-)

If someone made a bolt on version of these, or had some service to weld them together so I could bolt these on, they would be on my car. I have not bought these for the reason I refuse to pay someone 1k in labor that I dont trust and of could weld, do my self.

Yep we were chatting around Christmas about it.

Depending on overall cost, I would really like to do these out of stainless and tig them up. It should be pretty trick, I will fit them on my 08 to make sure everything looks good before I start cutting extras.

Are you making making a full header starting with the DT header or just from the DT header down to the flange?

I already bought the DT header awhile back. If someone is fabricating the rest with a high flow cats so all I have to do is weld it to the DT, I would be interested.

Yep that will work fine. What I am working on is the section that is between the header collector and y-pipe flange. I will supply a flange for you to have welded to your DT header. Once that is in place its bolt in ready. This will give the DIY folks a 1K install savings =-) There will be a few options for high flow cat or a race pipe bolt in. The nice thing is it will be modular.. swap them out as needed without the need to remove the headers.
