Has anyone with the DT short headers in CA had issues failing smog? my 2004 OE V8 headers are cracked and I'm trying to upgrade but don't want to have issues with smog. I'm wondering if i paint them flat black and weld on the OE heat shields if they will go unnoticed...

long tube headers with factory y-pipe cats or aftermarket y-pipe cats (without restricted crimped tubing) would allow for no welding. however by adding o2 sensor bungs after the cats can it be made to keep the cel off?!?!

I'm happy, very happy to report that I talked doug thorley into making the shorties CARB APPROVED. So yes, this won't be an issue and you will pass with the shorties...

Correct. I now have the LONG TUBES IN STOCK and the new Y PIPE, these will never be carb approved of course as these eliminate the catsm but mosts states don't care.. Call or text to order, 717-319-2100

The way this is designed, it's the best you can get for the money, where as the Toyota headers are over double the cost and will crack again when around 100k miles.

You won't see it on their site yet. It's been submitted and can take sometimes a few months to get it. Yes, as of last week. I've been bugging them for the past year, but you gotta understand this costs $5,000 PER PART number. You have 03-4 shorties which is one part number, 05-09 which is another, that's 10k. But found a way to get them all done under one part number which saved half the cost! They've been submitted. That means in a few months there will be carb number than everyone will get that bought these for CA So, if you want headers, you can order now and then you'll be good as smog in CA is every 2 years. The prices of these headers will only GO UP with price increases due to the steel tarriff's. They are a deal right now though.

Luckily my state doesn't do underhood or inspects for EO #s, as long as there's no codes and all readiness monitors are in "ready" state you pass. I'm just looking out for our members living in California.

No worries. Stuff doesn't get done unless you keep bugging and bugging and bugging. And there are 10 guys that have these in CA right now. Not sure how they get passed, or they prob know someone doing a favor.

No check engines. I know how to make these work with no codes with just about ANY setup too. I also, now have the LONG TUBES in stock, which need NO WELDING but those won't ever be carb approved for CA obviously, but some still do them in CA somehow. Alot of time and work to get these done but was all worth it.
