05 4runner 2wd shocks/struts and lift

The 05 needs shocks, Im on a budget, being disabled and old. Whats the economical choice to basic shocks? It has the xreas, which ill ditch.

Even being 2wd, Id like a little more clearance, is there a simple and economical way to get a couple more inches clearance? When putting shocks on may be an opportune time to add lift parts if its practical and not overly complex. Some of the info ive seen indicates it may be relatively simple for that small amount. Would different shocks be indicated if doing some minor lift, or standard shocks and other parts used?

I dont offroad per se in it, but many places i go are dirt National Forest roads. A bit more clearance would be useful.

If you're ditching the X-REAS on a budget, KYB Excel-G shocks/struts are probably the best value and ride close to stock. If you can spend a bit more, Bilstein 4600s are excellent for rough forest roads.

For a simple 1.5–2" lift, add front strut spacers and rear coil spacers when you replace the suspension. That's the cheapest, easiest way to gain clearance. Standard replacement shocks generally work fine with a mild lift like that, though longer rear shocks are a nice upgrade if the budget allows.

For your use (mostly pavement and forest roads), a KYB + 2" spacer lift setup is hard to beat for value.
