ok, so when i turn my wheel all the way to the left or right, and proceed to do a turn or like making a small circle for argument sake, i hear this rubbing type noise comign from the front tires. I dont think the wheels are rubbing, maybe a problem with cv joint? This is at slow speed as well. Sound could also be classified as a clicking.

any suggestions?

Is your 4Runner running factory sized tires? If so, I would check the steering stops and see if they're dry. Add a dab of grease and it should get rid of the noise for a while. The steering stops come up against the lower control arm. (I need to find the pic that was posted.)

I dunno if this is the same type of noise or not, but my mom's BMW X5 had the same type of problem and when she took it in to get looked at they said it was the ball joint, annnnnd apparently the wheel was about to fall off. I also had the same noise in my Jetta (that I no longer have as of yesterday), but it was a lease so I decided to deal with it and not fix it.

lol i dont think the wheel is going to fall off, it could just be my imagination, sometimes it happens and sometimes i can't hear it. I don't go off roading at all so i'm hoping its just the stock tires. since mine is 2005 i should change the tires soon.

When I'm on full lock and hit a bump I hear a rubbing noise and I've been told it's simply the steering stop rubbing... nothign to worry about.
