6x9 fronts seperates
6.5 rear coax

A lot of folks change the fronts to 6.5 rounds for sound quality.
6x9's are said to be better for a louder sound.
The adaptors are all over the internet for about 10bucks.

If you replace like for like, you dont have to use adaptors and the speaker depending on what you buy will probably fit into the existing location.

Check out the JL Audio stealthbox for the 4runner. Runs about 5bills but the box is pretty light and it takes little space.

its funny cuz most of the time the 6x9 is in ther rear not the front.

Not to sure if I am going to put it in the rear for now. given that it puts out more bass. I think it shoud be in the rear.

Definitely 6.5 components in front and a 6.5" coaxial in the rear. You will have a hard time finding decent 6x9 front components.

No matter what aftermarket speakers you go with, you will either have to make or buy speaker adaptors. Even if you stick with the same OEM size. The stock paper speakers are moulded into an adaptor. You either replace the adaptor or cut the speaker out of the stock adaptor.

The link below shows a pics of what you need to buy or fabricate.
